Tangara Designs is dedicated to making high quality cards and prints featuring designs and images inspired by fantasy, myth and nature.
The name 'Tangara' was first chosen intuitively in mid 90's and since then has been found to have a variety of interrelated meanings across a range of cultures often associated with movement and travel in both a literal and metaphysical senses. For the Ngalea people of South Australia Tangara means 'to go' or 'travel' while in Malaysia phonetically is associated with compass direction southwest. The multi-colored Tangara bird can be seen journeying through the mountain ranges of Central America from Chiapas Mexico to the highlands of Guatemala. Tangara is also the name of the Siberian Celestial Sky God and is revered by the shamans of the Yakut people of the region.
